One of the most popular and celebrity-studded events of the Hamptons’ summer calendar, Authors Night featured 100 authors across all genres. The evening begins with the Authors Cocktail Party reception under a grand tent, where guests met and mingled with the authors, purchasing their books after asking them to personally inscribe a special message. July 2026: Well it was just 7 years ago - July of 2019 in Southampton when NYC VIBE caught up with the former New York Mets great centerfielder Carlos Beltran - who was raising funds for his foundation for an important initiative at that time - providing disaster relief from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria - which had literally destroyed his birth home Puerto Rico. Now remember it was the summer of 2019 - and we asked Carlos what his retirement plans would look like… Well it was just months later when the nine time All Star was hired as a first-time manager for the New York Mets. But he was implicated as a player and key participant in the 2017 Houston Astros illicit sign-stealing scheme and forced to step down on January 16, 2020, acknowledging in a statement that he fell short as a leader. So time has passed and it was a wonderful weekend as the three time Golden Glove award winner was included in the National Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2026 - honored in Cooperstown, NY… So that brings us back to Manhattan where NYC VIBE met up with former Met shortstop Jose Reyes who was adamant that Carlos Beltran should be the next New York Mets manager… The Mets state they have not really started the process but with endorsements like this - and that they wanted him back then - this could be a calling sign…
