Saturday Night, August 8, 2026: If it's the first Saturday in August that means it's the East Hampton Library’s Annual Authors Night fundraiser. This year marks the 22nd annual gathering. One of the most popular and celebrity-studded events of the Hamptons’ summer calendar, Authors Night featured 100 authors across all genres. The evening begins with the Authors Cocktail Party reception under a grand tent, where guests met and mingled with the authors, purchasing their books after asking them to personally inscribe a special message. NYC VIBE was invited by the library to meet up with the authors to talk about their work and their message to their communities. Mike Leventhal asked the controversial news and podcaster Don Lemon about why it's so important to write these books. The 22nd annual authors night is now in the books with an expected half a million dollars to be raised to benefit the East Hampton Library’s general operations, allowing them to provide free community programs and services throughout the year.

The chefs and grill masters took their roles very seriously this past Saturday night at the Clubhouse in East Hampton for the annual Dan’s Hamptons Grill. If you love meat - of all kinds - this was the place to come with an empty stomach and leave very full and satisfied. Six Months of Nonstop Energy Across NYC | NYC VIBE

July 2026: Well it was just 7 years ago - July of 2019 in Southampton when NYC VIBE caught up with the former New York Mets great centerfielder Carlos Beltran - who was raising funds for his foundation for an important initiative at that time - providing disaster relief from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria - which had literally destroyed his birth home Puerto Rico. Now remember it was the summer of 2019 - and we asked Carlos what his retirement plans would look like… Well it was just months later when the nine time All Star was hired as a first-time manager for the New York Mets. But he was implicated as a player and key participant in the 2017 Houston Astros illicit sign-stealing scheme and forced to step down on January 16, 2020, acknowledging in a statement that he fell short as a leader. So time has passed and it was a wonderful weekend as the three time Golden Glove award winner was included in the National Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2026 - honored in Cooperstown, NY… So that brings us back to Manhattan where NYC VIBE met up with former Met shortstop Jose Reyes who was adamant that Carlos Beltran should be the next New York Mets manager… The Mets state they have not really started the process but with endorsements like this - and that they wanted him back then - this could be a calling sign…

Sports Illustrated Beyond the Pitch - The Night before the FIFA World Cup Finals

July 2026 - East Hampton, NY: Here he is - Bronx born Cuba Gooding Jr. - the recipient of an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and an Emmy nomination celebrating with friends this past weekend at the EHP Resort & Marina for Dan’s Taste’s 5th anniversary of Light Up the Night on the bay at Three Mile Harbor in East Hampton. Guests lined up to greet Cuba congratulating him on the 30th anniversary of the hit movie Jerry McGuire. Cuba Gooding Jr. played Rod Tidwell, an outspoken, undersized wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals. He is the sole remaining client who sticks with sports agent Jerry Maguire played by Tom Cruise) after Jerry gets fired, anchoring the duo's memorable journey. Gooding's electrifying performance earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Cuba was joined by a few hundred that came out to enjoy the majestic scenes of the bay, enjoy the food from top chefs from the region and all you can drink. NYC VIBE met with up with Cristiano Rossi - a highly energetic chef from Italy who worked all day to create a few dishes that were highly sought after… Mike Leventhal watched as Michael Miezianka dished out oysters from the Blue Point farm from the Great South Bay….Blue Point oysters are a classic known for its briny, ocean-forward flavor, plump satiny meats, and crisp, clean finish with a mild, sweet aftertaste.
