October 2025 - Lincoln Center, NY: Ragtime is back on Broadway—a towering musical event that makes the story of America feel both intimate and epic. Set in the vibrant, turbulent dawn of the 20th century, this rich tapestry weaves together fictional narratives with the essential currents of history, blurring the line between personal struggle and national identity. In the bustling melting pot of New York, a Black pianist, a Jewish immigrant, and a wealthy white mother find their lives dramatically intertwined. Their fictional struggles explode against a backdrop of real history, where they cross paths with icons like Harry Houdini, Emma Goldman, Booker T. Washington, and Henry Ford. This landmark production is based on E. L. Doctorow's 1975 novel, featuring the four-time Tony Award-winning playwright, the late Terrence McNally and a truly brilliant, soaring score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. Barstool Sports founder and renowned pizza expert Dave Portnoy hosted what many consider one of the world’s largest pizza festivals on Randall's Island in New York City on a glorious sunny afternoon ..The only thing hotter than the sun high in the sky was more than 40 ovens all fired up and with pizza pies loading in and out by the thousands… With about 10,000 fans gathering on the island to enjoy tastes from each of the pizzerias, Dave made the rounds stopping off to meet the chefs and their teams - taking a bite from each… NYC VIBE talked with many of the pizzeria owners to talk about Dave Portnoy's influence and the special assistance he has provided to many that were in need while offering inspiration for each to innovate and grow in their communities. The One Bite Pizza Festival has been such a huge success, Dave said he is considering expanding to Las Vegas and Chicago …. Mike Leventhal caught up with long time friend Mark Iacono who founded Lucali Pizzeria and asked about why the Lucali phenomenon continues to this day… Dave Portnoy's Barstool Fund has raised over $41 million and helped more than 420 small businesses survive during the COVID-19 pandemic by contributing to their operating costs, allowing them to keep their employees on payroll. Andrea Bocelli to be Honored at Denyce Graves Foundation's Harvest Moon Gala | NYC VIBE

September 2025 - Theater District NYC If you love musical theater - you will enjoy the new book, Hirschfeld’s Sondheim which is a deluxe oversized Hirschfeld poster book containing more than 50 drawings of Sondheim and his musicals, plays and films, including 25 full page images that can be easily removed and put right on a wall. On the reverse side - rare, ancillary images from the Hirschfeld archives At the unveiling event at the famous Alkonquin Hotel in the theater district, NYC VIBE caught up with David Leopold, Hirschfeld’s archivist and Creative Director of the Al Hirschfeld Foundation who told us how the shows and the drawings reflect the development of both artists. All of Sondheim’s best–known works are included: West Side Story, Follies, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, and Sunday in the Park with George - in 25 ready–to–frame, removable art prints. There are also previously unpublished works including a triple portrait of Sondheim, George Gershwin and Jerome Kern. The guests talked about how Hirschfeld’s images capture the essence of the performances even better than the photographs of the shows. Hirschfeld’s drawings and Sondheim’s works are almost inextricably linked in the minds of theater lovers everywhere. Ever since Sondheim’s death in November 2021, his work and legacy have been enjoying a resurgence of appreciation, with productions like the recent Broadway revivals of Merrily We Roll Along, Company, and Into the Woods, and this season’s Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends. The innovative format of Hirschfeld’s Sondheim allows readers to see the works as never before.
